Kawaikapu says - The chant was written to honor the relationships to Nāmakahelu the chanter of Kamananui. Kaleohaalulu Napahi was the grandfather of aunty Emma Defries. He was one of the husbands of Namakahelu. I learned the stories of Kamananui from Aunty Emma.
